Funerals
At St Peter & St Paul’s, we understand that the loss of a loved one is a deeply personal and emotional time. Our church is a place of comfort, reflection, and remembrance, where family and friends can come together to celebrate a life well-lived. We are here to support you with compassion and guidance as you honour those who have passed.
Funerals at St Peter & St Paul's
When someone we love dies, marking their passing in a meaningful way can bring both comfort and healing. At St Peter & St Paul’s Church in Shoreham, a funeral is a sacred time to gather together, to thank God for the life that has ended, to remember all that was good and true within it, and to give thanks for the ways that person’s presence touched and enriched our own lives.
A funeral is also an important step for those who remain—for family, friends, and our wider community. Taking time to say goodbye helps us to begin to heal, to honour our grief, and to find spiritual hope in the promise of God’s eternal love.
Everyone who lives in the parish is entitled to a funeral service or to have their ashes buried by their local parish priest, whether or not they were regular churchgoers.
Our Vicar at St Peter & St Paul’s counts it a privilege to walk alongside families during this tender time. We can hold a funeral service here in our beautiful village church, or at a local crematorium or cemetery.
We also have a garden of remembrance at St Peter & St Paul’s, a peaceful setting where ashes may be interred, providing a place for quiet reflection and remembrance. If you or your loved one lived within the parish, we would be honoured to offer this space—or to support arrangements for interment at a local cemetery or another chosen place.
Through every step of the process, we are here to offer care, compassion, and spiritual support as you remember and give thanks for the one you love.
